£2.6m investment in Wellingborough power network
Western Power Distribution (WPD) has invested £2.6m on its electricity network in Wellingborough to further safeguard supply reliability for customers.
WPD became the electricity distribution business responsible for the Midlands in April 2011, and this new initiative has involved upgrading equipment in a major substation that supplies electricity to around 23,000 customers in Wellingborough and the surrounding areas of Irchester, Wollaston, Bozeat and Strixton.
Temporary equipment was installed to avoid any disruption to customers’ supplies while the work was carried out and it took two years to complete.
“Our aim is to invest to maintain the reliability of electricity supplies for years to come,” said Patrick Booth, WPD’s Northamptonshire Projects Distribution Manager.
“We are committed to providing a consistently high level of service to customers and will have spent over £2 billion on our network between 2010 and 2015.”
