£7.6 Million Power Boost for Warwickshire
The final stage in a major initiative to boost power supplies and support the development of new homes and businesses in Warwickshire is due to begin on Monday.
We have already built a new major substation in Wellesbourne and installed nearly a kilometre of new underground cables. Now the final 60m are due to be installed on Princes Drive, Leamington Spa.
The work will help to further safeguard supply reliability to more than 65,000 customers in the Wellesbourne, Warwick and Leamington area while also supplying power to the new housing developments and industrial units in Wellesbourne. The cable laying is expected to be completed by 11 August. During this time, traffic management will be in place to enable our contractors Kier to install the cables.
“This work ensures that we can provide a high level of service to these areas in the long term by improving the infrastructure and security of our electricity network”, said Keith Davis, our Team Manager for the area.
“Our aim is to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum and we have been working with Warwickshire County Council and local residents and businesses to achieve this. This means we delayed the start of these roadworks until the summer holidays.”
For the safety of residents and workers the traffic management involves a partial road closure and a diversion for north-bound traffic on Princes Drive via Myton Road, Coten End and Emscote Road. Signage will be in place.
Letters have been sent to local residents and businesses.
