Crewkerne Technician Larry Mills

What’s your career background?

I used to run a small tree surgery business in London before moving to the south west 10 years ago, to start a family and new life. I worked as a Team Leader in tree cutting for a company called Hi-Line before I became Overhead Operator at WPD in 2010, leaving behind a 16-year career as an arborist. I became an Overhead Technician in 2016.

What does your current role entail?

I project manage overhead and underground construction schemes in the south coast area of Somerset. My job also involves leading teams of talented Linesmen and Jointers to carry out new connections, alterations and scheduled maintenance to the overhead network within the south coast area.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

For me, the best thing about the job is being able to work in different places on a weekly basis, along with meeting new people. It’s also very rewarding when all the hard workinvested into a new scheme has finished according to plan and on time and the customers are happy.

What are your Hobbies?

I enjoy wakeboarding, surfing, cycling and boxing.
