A snoring success

The Mansfield Big Snore, in aid of Framework homeless charity and sponsored by WPD, achieved its biggest turnout to date, with more than 120 people, including Mansfield staff and WPD’s mascot Pylonman, sleeping in a cardboard box for the night to raise the profile of homelessness in the area and much needed funds for charity.

Staff and Pylonman join Framework's mascot Roofus to get ready for their sleep out.

Due to increased demand, the event moved this year to its new location at Mansfield Town Football Club and hopes to raise over £20,000.

Graham Paling, WPD Mansfield Team Manager, explained: “This is the third year that WPD has sponsored and been involved in the Big Snore. We are keen support the local area that we serve and we are delighted to see the event grow year after year. The windy weather made conditions challenging, but we were well equipped for it. The experience makes you appreciate what you have and recognise how difficult it must be for those people who experience rough sleeping every night. All of the money raised will be going to Framework’s Sherwood Street Centre in Mansfield to continue the work they do to support homeless people.”
