Boost for Boston
We're investing in our network to improve supply reliability and customer service levels, with around £7 billion being spent between 2015 and 2023.
This latest initiative has involved the refurbishment and reinforcement of two high voltage power lines which span the River Haven.
Our engineers have carried out the work on the lines which are suspended from forty metre crossing pylons – two-and-a-half times taller than standard – to enable shipping access to the busy dock at Boston.
The work forms part of an initiative which also involves repainting eight pylons, rewiring and installing new fittings on the overhead lines and reconfiguring cables in a nearby substation.
Our investment will help to further safeguard supply reliability to around 13,500 customers in Langrick, Stickney, Mount Bridge and Wrangle near Boston and it will also better accommodate any increased demands placed on our power network in the future.
“It ensures that we can provide a high level of service to these areas in the long term by improving the infrastructure and security of our electricity network,” said James Bradley, Projects Team Manager for the area.
