Bracken Trust gets a helping hand from our volunteers

The charity, which provides support, advice and counselling to families affected by cancer in Wales, needed help maintaining the gardens at their cancer support centre.

Our volunteers stepped in to tidy up the gardens surrounding the centre in Llandrindod Wells, where families affected by cancer are given support, advice and counselling.

Lisa Higgins, Team Support at National Grid Electricity Distribution, said: “The Bracken Trust has provided support to people that we know so we were humbled to be able to give something back. All of us that attended over the two volunteering days would definitely do it again and would also like to go back to the Bracken Trust to continue the work that we have started with them.”

Lisa Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer at the Bracken Trust, said: “At the Bracken Trust we have been supporting people affected by cancer since 1995. We offer our patients, their family members and carers, practical and emotional support, as well as complementary therapies.

“Our centre in Llandrindod Wells is set in a beautiful garden which offers a place of peace and tranquillity to reflect and support your mental health and wellbeing.

“We are very grateful to National Grid Electricity Distribution staff who volunteered their time to work at our gardens. This type of support makes all the difference to us and helps us to keep the centre running.”

We launched an employee volunteering programme for our 6,500 staff earlier this year and are committed to supporting local charities and organisations by delivering more than 14,000 employee volunteering hours every year until 2030.
