Carry on camping

Scouts from the 1st Clifton Scout Group will now be able to carry on camping.

The unit, which is currently recruiting new members, needed new camping equipment to help reduce the cost of activities, which WPD has provided.

“The purpose of scouting is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities,” explained Scout Leader, Jon Peel.

“There’s always a great team spirit amongst us and this donation has been a real boost to everyone involved. The Scouts were so excited when they heard the news and they had lots of fun putting the tents up for the first time.

“The new camping equipment will provide shelter and enable the young people to cook a hot meal.

“We are very grateful for the donation from Western Power Distribution. We will certainly make good use of the items we have been able to buy,” he said.
