Emergency cable repairs in Spondon

Essential repairs to an underground electricity cable in Willowcroft Road, Spondon are taking place this week.
We are the electricity distributor for the region, and are responsible for looking after the cables and wires, pylons, poles and substations that deliver electricity to homes and businesses throughout Derbyshire.
The work involves digging and repairing a faulty cable which supplies electricity to over 3,500 homes and local businesses in Little Eaton, Oakwood, Spondon and the surrounding areas.
In order for engineers to work safely, traffic lights are in place on both the north and south carriageway on Willowcroft Road. The work has started today and engineers will work as quickly as possible to carry out the repairs. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by the end of the week.
Dave Croydon, Team Manager from WPD said: “The work is necessary for us to maintain the security of electricity supplies in the area. We’ve been liaising with Derby City highways to agree the times of our work, and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.”
Power supplies will not be affected while the work takes place.
