Gwent children and young people Sparkle!

Since the Serennu Children’s Centre opened its doors last year, over 1,200 children, young people and their families living in South Gwent have been able to make use of its state of the art treatment and assessment facilities.

The Sparkle appeal, which hugely contributed to the building of this beautiful purpose-built centre for children and young people with disabilities, is still working hard to raise funds to provide extra equipment for the centre.
One of the latest donations has come from Western Power Distribution (WPD) who has provided funding for two Alphasmart word processors.

Occupational therapist, James Marshman explained: “One of the primary benefits of the centre is that we can provide treatment, care, information, consultations and leisure services under one roof.

“Children and young people really enjoy attending and can benefit enormously. Using Alphasmart word processors will help them to improve their keyboard and IT skills.

“Coupled with the expert care and advice that children and young people can receive from occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy and other health and social care colleagues and voluntary workers, equipment like this can help to make a real difference to their overall development,” said James.
