Investing in our network
A £2.5 million investment for Western Power Distribution’s (WPD) electricity network is underway in the seaside village of Nottage, Porthcawl.
Projects Engineer, Steve Taylor, operating the new switchgear, part of the £2.5 million investment at Nottage.
The initiative is designed to reinforce and replace a primary substation that supplies over 8,000 customers in the area. It will also further improve supply reliability and customer service levels.
Work began in November 2013 and it is due to be completed in March 2015.
Nine residents will also benefit from the removal of high voltage overhead power lines and associated cables which currently run at the back of their homes. These will now be diverted into a nearby field.
WPD Projects Engineer, Steve Taylor explained: “We’re using the latest technology to upgrade our substation at Nottage and our investment is also designed to accommodate any increased demands likely to be placed on the network in the future."
