Just what the doctor ordered!
13/10/2017
Music is just what the doctor ordered at Morriston Hospital, in Swansea this week.
Morriston Hospital Music Festival got under way with a series of concerts, all free of charge, in the main foyer and on the wards thanks to funding from us.
Research has shown that music benefits people’s recovery from illness but the festival is not just for patients but also for visitors and staff too.
To coincide with Swansea International Festival which runs from 29 September – 15 October, WPD has funded a series of six concerts providing nine hours of live music arranged by the charity Music in Hospitals & Care.

Music in Hospitals & Care provide around 5,000 live music concerts a year for people in hospital wards, hospices, and care homes all over the country.
WPD’s Maurice Eshelby who attended one of the concerts said: “We believe large organisations like ours have a responsibility to play a full and active role in the communities they serve.
“Supporting events like this is a great way of showing our support for the community at large. We hope everyone who attended the concerts enjoyed them, they featured a great line-up of talented musicians.”
