Major roadworks in Moreton-in-Marsh to begin from September
We are advising Moreton-in-Marsh motorists that there will be staggered road closures and temporary traffic lights in operation from 9 September.
We are reinforcing our high voltage network to accommodate new and future demand, which will improve the resilience and reliability of the town’s electricity supply.
Motorists are advised that there may be slight delays to journeys during busy times, and to look out for the clearly signposted diversionary routes when specific roads are closed.
A spokesperson for National Grid Electricity Distribution said:
“This is essential reinforcement work to meet new and future demand, and we acknowledge that there may be some short-term disruption to residents, businesses and visitors alike. However, we’ve worked hard to limit the impact these works will have on the local community as best we can.
“There is never an ideal time to implement road closures and undertake works, but we would like to thank the residents in Moreton-in-Marsh for their patience and understanding while we complete the works, and are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
Closures and multi-way signals will be staggered where possible to minimise disruption to residents. Work is expected to begin on 9 September until 13 December in the following order:
9 September – 17 September
Corders Lane will be closed, with a diversionary route in place via Hospital Road / High Street.
16 September – 15 October
High Street Access Road will be closed, with a diversionary route in place via adjoining spine roads dependant on positioning of the closure at any given time. Pedestrian access is unaffected for businesses and residents along the route.
6 January – 21 January
