On the move
08/12/2016
We’re looking to recruit 500-700 people who are buying or leasing a new electric vehicle to take part in a trial to ensure that all UK customers can charge their electric vehicles when they choose.
Mark Dale charging one of the electric vehicles at a recent WPD staff roadshow.
Mark Dale, Innovation Engineer who is managing this collaborative project said: “Trial participants who sign up to Electric Nation will get a free* smart charger worth around £700.
“They will also be part of a large scale trial which will provide valuable information for the energy industry across the UK, the UK government, the automotive industry as well as the general public.”
Electric Nation will deliver outputs that could save costly intervention of the electricity infrastructure and provide a better understanding of how vehicle usage affects charging behaviour.
Electric Nation is the customer-facing brand of CarConnect, a Western Power Distribution (WPD) and Network Innovation Allowance funded project. WPD’s collaboration partners in the project are EA Technology, DriveElectric, Lucy Electric GridKey and TRL.
Trial participants must live in our network area, you can check if you're in our area by clicking here.
*Subject to eligibility and conditions, please see the Electric Nation website for more information
