Plymouth gets an upgrade
13/06/2016
We are about to embark on a £10 million scheme in Plymouth to replace the existing electricity network which will improve the reliability of the high voltage network.
Plans to renew 48 kilometres of electricity cable has been agreed with the local highways authority. In addition, our works have been programmed so that it coincides with the council’s resurfacing plans which will follow this project.
Gary Beasley, Project Engineer for WPD explains: “We appreciate this work will cause some disruption to customers and commuters as the majority of the work will be undertaken in the highway.
“We will liaise with customers along the route and keep people informed of closures and diversions well in advance with regular updates on our website as changes occur. Our aim is always to minimise any disruptions caused by this work and thank everyone in advance for their understanding.”
Phase 1, confirmed dates and locations below:
- Hyde Park area, commencing 25th July for approximately 3 weeks
- Wolseley Road, commencing 26th Sept for approximately 12 weeks
Further works are planned with actual dates to be confirmed at a later date.
