Pokemon safety
15/07/2016
We are urging people to think safety first and keep out of electricity substations when playing Pokemon Go.
The game, which has been available to download on smart phones in the UK since Thursday, has become a huge hit with the public. However, there's a serious message for gamers to be aware of their surroundings and stay away from electrical equipment and substations when out and about catching Pikachus and Charizards.
The Pokemon are randomly generated and may appear in places that are unsafe.
Eileen Leadley, Education Safety Adviser, said: “While we want people to enjoy the game, our electricity substations contain high voltages of electricity that can kill or badly burn you. Please stay safe and look out for the yellow danger of death signs around our equipment. Never enter a substation or climb any fencing around our substations. You are dicing with death if you do.”
