Power teams scale heights for charity

Our Brecon based colleagues got switched on for the first ever Brecon Beacons Night Hike and have raised £1,200 for Cancer Research Wales.

We have multiple bases across South Wales and we put our energy behind supporting the charity challenge which took place last Friday, March 23.

Some 12 of our staff, all based in Brecon, signed up to take part in the 9km challenge which attracted around 95 participants. They climbed Pen y Fan from the Storey Arms, passing the Tommy Jones obelisk and Corn Du.

As well as being the event’s main sponsor, we also encouraged staff to take an active part – like Linesman Jake Crockett who helped to rally the support of his colleagues.

He explained: “We didn’t want to underestimate the challenge we had set ourselves. Just as well, as the weather on the night was very cold, wet and windy, and visibility was poor, but we had a lot of fun. It was for such a great cause and meant that we were able to raise funds and get fit in the process.”

The charity originally set its self a target to raise £10,000 which they have exceeded.
