£1m investment is now complete

WPD has invested over £1million on a major initiative to boost power supplies in Lincolnshire and North Nottinghamshire.

WPD's Senior Designer Mark Olsen, Engineering Specialist Chris Lilley and Project Engineer Donald Ferguson.

This new initiative involves the replacement of equipment in a major substation at West Burton and the installation of a new system to link the substation with two Grid substations in Lincoln.

The work will help to safeguard supplies to around 160,000 customers across the region, including Network Rail’s East Coast Mainline.

“It ensures that we can provide a high level of service to these areas in the long term by improving the infrastructure and security of our electricity network,” said Richard Horlington, WPD’s Projects Team Manager for the area.

The project, which took 18 months to complete, forms part of WPD’s commitment to provide a consistently high level of service to customers. Around £2 billion will be invested by the company on its electricity network between 2010 and 2015.
