Scoping Report accepted by The Planning Inspectorate

UPDATE: Following our original submission of the Brechfa Forest Connection Scoping Report WPD was advised by RES, the developer of the proposed Bryn Llywelyn Wind Farm, that they no longer require a connection to the electricity network.

In view of this decision, WPD is no longer proposing to connect that wind farm to the distribution network and it no longer forms part of the project.

Following advice from The Planning Inspectorate, WPD has submitted a replacement request for a scoping opinion, excluding the Bryn Llywelyn Wind Farm connection options, which you can find in our Library.

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Scoping Report for the Brechfa Forest Connection Project was accepted by The Planning Inspectorate (PINs), on behalf of the Secretary of State, on 9 June 2014.

The report summarises all of the environmental information gathered to date and identifies the topics which, in the opinion of WPD, should be considered within the EIA.

PINs will consult on the report with statutory consultees.  They may make recommendations for topics to be included or removed from the EIA.

The 488 page report also identifies the scope for assessing the potential for cumulative environmental effects to arise in conjunction with other committed development proposals in the locality.

PINs are expected to provide a formal Scoping Opinion by 21 July 2014, following which we will review the comments received and use them to determine the final scope of the EIA.

You can view the full EIA Scoping Report and the bilingual non-technical summary version in our Library.
