Craftsmen Sean Beare and Jonathan Bosley caught the attention of children’s author and illustrator Veronica Lamond while working on overhead power lines alongside their Land Rover in Polzeath on the north coast of Cornwall.

The book, called Landy and the Apple Harvest Engineer, is part of a series of Landy books designed to engage children in diverse, real life activities through its animated characters.
Author Veronica explained: “Wherever I went, I noticed Land Rovers at work. Capturing this sense of activity and adventure, I began to weave a world around two old working Land Rovers in my neighbourhood.
“While out and about in Polzeath one day, I spotted two WPD engineers working on overhead power lines alongside their vehicle, so I took a few photos and created some illustrations for my next book."
