We join drive to decarbonisation at EV Rally Cymru

Drivers from National Grid Electricity Distribution took part in a two-day 500-mile electric vehicle showcase in Wales.

They drove three electric vehicles from the National Grid fleet: a Skoda Enyaq that has been converted to a 4x4 utility vehicle, another 4x4 vehicle and a transit custom van.

Cordi O’Hara, National Grid Electricity Distribution President, said: “I was delighted to be one of the drivers taking part in EV Rally Cymru. It was a great opportunity to talk about what we’re doing to drive decarbonisation forward.

“More EV charge points have been connected in the last two years than all previous years combined and our self-service products mean 60% of domestic EV connections are approved online in two seconds. With one of the largest fleets in the UK, I’m pleased to say that new fully electric 4x4 utility vehicles will be joining our fleet, thanks to a collaboration with Skoda and vehicle conversion company Strongs.

“Road transport is one of the quickest and most impactful ways people can engage with and deliver net zero, working together to drive towards a cleaner, greener future.”
